Welcome to the Department of Microgravity and Translational Regenerative Medicine

The new Department of Microgravity and Translational Regenerative Medicine is structurally assigned to the University Clinic of Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery and belongs jointly to the Medical Faculty and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Otto von Guericke University. It is part of the research group "Magdeburger Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Forschung unter Raumfahrt- und Schwerelosigkeitsbedingungen (MARS)".

Professor Dr. med. Daniela Grimm took over as head of the department on June 1, 2020. She is a specialist in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology. Her international research group studies the effects of microgravity, hypergravity and vibration on human cells. She has published more than 200 papers and has been an editor for Cancer at Scientific Reports and for Molecular Oncology at the International Journal of Molecular Science since 2016. She has a long and extensive experience in space research, including space flights, rocket flights, and parabolic flights.
