Welcome to the Department of Microgravity and Translational Regenerative Medicine

The Department of Microgravity and Translational Regenerative Medicine (MTRM) is structurally assigned to the University Clinic of Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery and belongs jointly to the Medical Faculty and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Otto von Guericke University. It is part of the research group "Magdeburger Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Forschung unter Raumfahrt- und Schwerelosigkeitsbedingungen (MARS)".

Prof. Dr. med. Daniela Grimm took over as head of the department on June 1, 2020, and held this position with great success and deep personal dedication until her death on September 9, 2026. She was a specialist in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology. The MTRM’s international research group investigates the effects of microgravity, hypergravity, and vibration on human cells.
